Four miles from Whiteface Mountain, and 15 minutes from Lake Placid, the private and secluded Beaver Dam Lodge sits on 27 acres, surrounded by Adirondack wilderness and gorgeous Whiteface and Stephenson Range mountain views. Four Bedrooms, 3 full baths and a half bath, and a spacious family room and finished basement, makes the newly built Beaver Dam Lodge the perfect vacation getaway for large families or multiple families. The 20' by 13' Master Bedroom on the second floor features walk-in closet and bath, as well as great views of Whiteface Mountain. Two other spacious bedrooms on the second floor share a bath. The first floor has Maple floors, and a mini deck for an outside grill, just off the kitchen and family room, facing the Stephenson Range. Just off the kitchen, the Entertainment Room has an entertainment center, High speed DSL Wireless Internet and Satellite TV, French sliding doors leading to the wrap-around porch, and enough space to serve as a fourth bedroom. The kitchen has all the latest appliances, including range, refrigerator/ freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and dishwasher, while there is a washer-dryer set in the basement. The family room has a thermostat-equiped propane stove, which can be controlled by a remote. Bring your hiking boots and snow shoes, as the surrounding acreage features a white pine forest, accented by hardwood and birch, and wetlands, inviting exploration and discovery. Bald Eagles and Red-tailed hawks hunt by day, while the call of the Great Horned Owl highlights nights around the camp fire. Have your camera ready, while relaxing on the porch, as black bear, coyote and fox, exciting to see, but harmless, wander into the yard from the pine bogs. High Peaks hiking for aspiring 46ers, and easy mountain hikes for beginners, featuring wonderful summit views, are all around. You can walk to great fishing for brown and rainbow trout in the West Branch of the Ausable River. Ausable Loj and its sixty acres of fun and adventure, is only a few miles away. At the Loj, you can paddle our canoes and kayaks up and down the Ausable River and Lake Everest, walk your dog on the Wildlife Refuge Trail, and show your kids owls, falcons and hawks recovering in the Wildlife Rehab Center, or meet Cree and Zeebie, our resident wolves. Lake Placid is only 15 minutes away, and the drive through the Wilmington Notch, along the West Branch of the Ausable, with its mountains, wildlife, fly fishermen, rock climbers and roosting raptors, is one of the prettiest drives in America. Lake Placid has great restaurants and shopping, as well as Olympic attractions like the hockey rink where the Americans upset the Russians in the 1980 Olympics, the speed-skating oval where Eric Heiden won all those medals, and the bizarre and futuristic-looking Olympic ski-jumps. If you'd prefer action, you and your kids can ride the Olympic bob-sled and luge. Beaver Dam Lodge has a local caretaker, who provides plowing service in the winter, and can recommend hikes, biking courses, fishing locations, restaurants and other activities. |
