Guests
staying at any of the Adirondack Holiday cabins or houses are welcome
to use our canoes and kayaks on Lake Everest, explore the Wildlife
Refuge on the Ausable River, and visit the Wildlife Rehabilitation
Center
![]() The dining room is enclosed with an original Adirondack nature-scene mural, while the livingroom has comfortable furnishings arranged in front of the ornate glass-paneled wood stove, the old stone fireplace, the 60 inch TV, cable modem with wireless internet access and the entertainment center. The den on the first floor doubles as a fifth bedroom. The entire first floor is laid out in a way that your family can easily circulate from room to room while enjoying each others' company. The upstairs features 4 private bedrooms, three with king-sized beds, and one with a queen-sized bed, and two sets of bunk beds for the kids. Each bedroom has two shelved closets, making unpacking a breeze, and authentic pine-planking covering the walls. No more vacation-squabbling over who gets which bedroom: they're all spacious, rustic and Adirondacky. Each floor has a charming and ornate, antiquey bathroom. The east side of the main floor features a spacious, elevated deck, where you can sip your morning coffee, while watching the sun rise over the Jay range, or relaxing in the evening, refreshment in hand, recounting the days activities, while wondering if there are really that many stars in the sky. If you're body is sore from hiking or skiing, relax in the six-person hot tub on the deck below. The walk out basement features a full size hockey table, ping pong, darts and putting green. In the winter, use one of our sleds or inner tubes to roar down the long sloping hill at the side of the Loj. Besides fishing in the river there is a children only fishing pond located a few miles away in Wilmington. It is well stocked with trout and the kids will have a great time. There is a washing machine and dryer located in the basement, please feel free to use them during your stay. Mountain View Loj has 450 Feet of Ausable River Frontage, and sits at the head of one of the loveliest valleys in the Adirondacks, framed by the Jay Mountains and the East Branch of the Ausable River, at the southern edge of the Hamlet of Jay, between Jay and Upper Jay. The bicycle course of Ironman, which takes place on the last Sunday of July, runs right past the Loj through this picturesque valley, and you're welcome to use one of our bikes to ride through the valley and take in the scenery. The river itself provides a swimming hole, and great fishing for the anglers and fly fisherman in the family, or you beginners may borrow one of our rods and bring home dinner. Enjoy using one of our canoes and kayaks to explore the river. Mountain View Lodge has a local caretaker, who provides plowing service in the winter, and can recommend hikes, biking courses, fishing locations, restaurants and other activities. Feel like camping out, or just sitting around the campfire telling ghost stories, while roasting marshmallows? Mountain View Loj added an authentic Adirondack leanto, at the southern end of the property in 2007. Mountain View Loj has an unattached, two story timber-framed barn, which is scheduled to be renovated in 2007 to provide large rustic, year-round wine and cigar room, complete with a wood-burning pot-belly stove, for those cold winter evenings. Mountain View Loj rents by the week only during ski season, and from June through August. All other seasons are 4 night minimum stay. |
