Texas Toothy Time
The Aransas National Wildlife
Refuge
American Alligator snapped at the Refuge during
most recent visit, last weekend of February 2001.
The Aransas NWR is along the Texas Gulf Coast across
from the northeastern end of Padre Island.
Aransas is a wildlife cornucopia. I have seen
collared peccaries, whooping cranes, armadillos, white-tailed
deer, wild turkey, turkey vultures, the ubiquitous
alligator, dolphins, and most curious,
a ten foot bull shark, cruising off the shore of San
Antonio Bay at dawn.
