Giant: 4,627', 12th Highest Elevation in the Adirondacks

| Giant is a moderate hike which enjoys one of the better all around views in the Adirondacks. It can be approached from three different directions, north from 9N (where it runs between Keene and Elizabethtown), Route 9 (from Rocky Peak Ridge trail), and from Route 73, south of Keene Valley. We took the Roaring Brook trail (about 7 1/2 miles round trip), beginning from Route 73 south of Keene Valley. From Otter Chalet and Deep Woods Cabin, take Springfield Rd. south to Jay, 9N south into Keene, and 73 southeast through Keene Valley and St. Huberts. Hiker parking is on the left, just before the second intersection on the right marked "Ausable Club" as you're driving south on 73 towards the Northway. |
