We have noted the return of our wild bald eagles to their nest at the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge, across from our dock on the the Ausable on Jan 30th. The owner of the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge, Stephen Hall,  lives alone in a separate apartment in the north wing of the Lodge with a separate entrance and parking. He spends a great deal of time traveling, looking for wolves, moose and bear, and writing about wildlife, so you won’t see much of him, unless you need help with something in the Lodge. You may reach the owner at 855-465-9655..

The Wildlife Refuge itself is a great educational place where the family will learn all about nature, from wildlife to livestock and pets, and their relationship and importance to human civilization. For example, did you ever wonder how cats and dogs became pets or which animal we developed cows and cattle from? You’ll find out here.

Steve is friendly and responsive. The property is large and basically places you in the middle of the forest. Nice kitchen and a very nice rustic, cozy feel throughout the cottage. The sauna is wood fired and needs 2+ hrs to heat up, something to keep in mind. We thoroughly enjoy the hot-tub and the sauna as well as the surroundings.

I had an amazing stay at this beautiful cabin in the woods! The proximity to the ski resort was perfect, and the hot tub added a delightful touch to our evenings. The cozy atmosphere and well-equipped amenities made for a memorable getaway. Highly recommend! Stephen was a very responsive host and gave clear instructions. Truly enjoyed staying in this cabin.
